Digable Planets

Digable Planets are one of the most revered golden era hip hop groups. Butterfly and Ladybug Mecca have amazing voices for hip hop, Doodlebug is dope too, but for me the other two really stand out.
3 albums. Check them out.

Reachin'(A New Refutation of Time and Space) (1993)
Blowout Comb (1994)
Beyond the Spectrum: the Creamspy Chronicles (2005)

Batsauce - Summertime

This came out during the summer. I missed it. Oddly though I downloaded his wifes album about the time this came out, Lady Daisey, soul type stuff. Anyway, these beats are awesome, some dope rhymes on some of them too... all sampled from different covers of Gershwins classic 'Summertime' I believe

Javelin - Jamz and Jemz (2009)

So I very recently happened upon the band Javelin while browsing through the Luaka Bop artist roster, I read what they do and was like SHIEEET I'm all over this. YUP, going to see them next week in Toronto, pretty excited. Here is a video that shows what they are all about and at the beginning is playing their hit track 'Vibrationz'

C Rayz Walz - Who The Fuck Are You?

Pretty sure this is the latest C Rayz Walz album, I think its from 09, honestly don't care enough to check.
I've been listening to this album alot lately. I never really used to listen to C Rayz but damn dude can really rip a microphone, this album got lots of banging beats, clever ryhmes, dope features, and almost every track goes hard.

I really love the track "I Love New York", that chorus is stuck in my head hardcore.
Check it sons and daughters.

Here is the only music video I can find from the album...

Cannibal Ox

Ahh I love Cannibal Ox. The Cold Vein is for me, one of the best hip hop albums of all time. It is most certainly one of my favorites. Vast Aire and Vordul Mega are just on some other world stuff... and it is the best of all Def Jux abstract El-P production that I've ever heard. Vast really fits on alot of those beats, the styles blow my mind on this album.

Bullfrog - Bullfrog (2001)

This is Kid Koala with a full band... and MC Blurum 13 on some tracks.
Well really the point of downloading this album in my opinion would be to GROOVE fucking hard to the track Reverse Psychology, but I can't find a video anywhere, so just please download this and listen to that track, trust me.

Whaaaattttupppp?!?!

Shadrach Kabango

I've been a big fan of Shad for several years now, but after hearing the new album TSOL, I am blown away, Best work yet, Marvelous, great to see him in hip hop, I wonder if this album will break through to the mainstream. It would be good for the world to hear.

TLO-Rough Waters(2010)

TLO - Anastasia from DJ TLO on Vimeo.

This is TLO, the DJ that tours with Shad K...
Interestingly, he was the last DJ to win Scribble Jam before it stopped happening. So unless it starts up again, he is the champ forevaah. Word life, this is a fantastic album of beats, great stuff.

Atmosphere man. ATMOSPHERE. Rhymesayers Son. Legendary indie hip hop. Slug and Ant. If you don't know then you must be fully immersed in the garbage MTV and radio dumps on your ears. Take off your blinders and recognize art.

Exile and Aloe Blacc are Emanon (3 albums)

DJ/Producer Exile and MC Aloe Blacc represent California and the raw underground sound of real hip hop. Aloe Blacc is also a dope soul singer, you can hear his voice on the opening to the new show How to Make it in America (people who did Entourage).

Video for track off The Waiting Room. Dope for real.

Aaaand one of my fave tracks from Imaginary Friends... Helped me feel light hearted about a really rough break-up... Hilarious stuff... Chorus is
"Girls I need 'em but they be misleading playing games with my mind and leaving my wrists bleeding, Girls, Women they deadly venom, but still we persist and insist to go up in 'em."

Rest in Peace Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal

Guru died yesterday. Gangstarr made some incredible smooth hip hop music. Alway real, influenced many. DJ Premier is a legend of golden era production, and on his beats, Guru's smooth voice had many a head noddin' and influenced a whole new generation of emcees and deejays.
Pay respect.
A rarities compilation, and Moment of Truth, their most succesful album.

Moka Only... oh wait I mean nah, his cousin Ron Contour

Honestly I LOVE this album. Big fan of Ron as an emcee, and Factor has some crazy nice production on this, and versatile too. So far my favorite release of 2010. Very close to being a Banger all they way through the album, which is rare for my ears.

Get it...

L'Roneous - Imaginarium (1998)

Another great hip hop album by a relatively unknown yet prodigous MC. Listen to him flex his vocab.
